Όπερα του Άντη Σκορδή / Κύπρος – Ελλάδα (παγκόσμια πρεμιέρα)

Σύγχρονη όπερα βασισμένη στο ομώνυμο μυθιστόρημα του Σωφρόνη Σωφρονίου.
Μέσα από τη ρυθμική διαδοχή σκηνοθετημένων επεισοδίων, εικαστικών μέσων, αφήγησης και λυρικών αποσπασμάτων, παρουσιάζεται ένα παραληρηματικό ταξίδι με θέμα τη μνήμη, το θάνατο και το χρόνο.
Ένας σκακιστής σκοτώνεται σε μια πλατεία της Νέας Υόρκης και μεταφέρεται στη Μικρή Ζωή, μια μεταθανάτια κατάσταση με περιορισμένη χρονική διάρκεια. Εκεί θα κληθεί να ανασυγκροτήσει το μυθιστόρημα 4001 του Αυστριακού Ρόμπερτ Κράους και να διαπιστώσει αν ο συγγραφέας βρίσκεται σε κάποιο σημείο του άγνωστου αυτού τόπου.
Η όπερα Αργός σίδηρος, μέσα από μια διαδοχή προσεκτικά σκηνοθετημένων επεισοδίων, οδηγεί τον θεατή και ακροατή σε ένα δυστοπικό, παραληρηματικό ταξίδι με θέμα τον ίλιγγο της μνήμης, της λογοτεχνίας, του κινηματογράφου και της τεχνολογίας.

Πολύ μακριά στο μέλλον, κάποιοι άνθρωποι μπορούν να ζήσουν, μετά το θάνατό τους, σε έναν πλανήτη πολύ μακριά από τη Γη, για ακόμα δέκα χρόνια.
Πολύ μακριά στο μέλλον, κάποιοι άνθρωποι αναλαμβάνουν να θυμηθούν τα πιο σημαντικά γεγονότα της ζωής τους και να τα ανασυνθέσουν.
Πολύ μακριά στο μέλλον, κάποιοι άνθρωποι γνωρίζουν άλλους ανθρώπους που θα τους βοηθήσουν να εκτελέσουν την αποστολή που έχουν αναλάβει.
Πολύ μακριά στο μέλλον, κάποιοι άνθρωποι αφηγούνται, ρωτάνε, μαθαίνουν, καταγράφουν, γνωρίζονται, έλκονται, απωθούνται, ψάχνουν.
Πολύ μακριά στο μέλλον, κάποιοι άνθρωποι περιπλανώνται σε άγνωστα τοπία προσπαθώντας να θυμηθούν τι έχει γίνει, γιατί έχει γίνει, ποιος το έκανε, γιατί το έκανε και πώς το έκανε.
Πολύ μακριά στο μέλλον, κάποιοι άνθρωποι ακόμα αναρωτιούνται για ποιο λόγο κάποτε υπήρξαμε.
Ένας άντρας ξυπνάει, μετά το θάνατό του, σ’ ένα εργαστήριο όπου διεξάγονται παράξενα πειράματα, για να ξεκινήσει μια περιπλάνηση που θα τον οδηγήσει στη δική του χώρα των νεκρών, όπου έρχεται αντιμέτωπος με τα φαντάσματα της ίδιας του της ύπαρξης.
Ο Αργός Σίδηρος είναι μια περιπλάνηση σε έναν πλανήτη πολύ μακριά μέσα μας, όπου προσπαθούμε με κάθε τρόπο να θυμηθούμε ότι κάποτε υπήρξαμε.

A contemporary opera based on Sofronis Sofroniou’s novel. Through a rhythmical development of episodes, visual media, narration and lyrical singing, the opera presents a delusional journey on memory, death and time.
When a chess player is fatally shot in New York’s Union Square, he is transferred to the planet of Little Life, where he gets, like everyone there, ten more years to live. Shortly after his arrival, he is tasked with reconstructing 4001, a novel by Austrian author Robert Krauss, and finding out whether Krauss has ended up in Little Life.
Through a series of episodes, the opera Argos Sidiros (Crude Iron) takes the spectator on a delirious journey spun in the vertigo of memory, literature, cinema and technology.

Far in the distant future, some people are able to live for ten more years after death, on a planet far away from the Earth.

A man awakens after his death in a laboratory where strange experiments are conducted, and sets out on a journey that will lead him to his own land of the dead, where he comes face to face with the ghosts of his own existence.
Argos Sidiros (Crude Iron) is a voyage on a planet deep inside us, where we try hard to remember that we once existed.
